ebay is a great place to buy "problem' coins....why intelligent collectors think they are going to find a bargain, or diamond in the rough, is beyond me......Better off to frequent garage sales.

When I first started buying on ebay, I bought a whizzed GVI half off a bad picture. I was annoyed until the price of bullion went up, and now I'm ahead.

Wow that sure is a whizzed coin. Great example although that one is obvious even to my novice eyes.

That's a lot of money to ask for a coin that has been altered. I'm guessing it has been graded but put into a 2x2 to eke out some more value.....

You're probably right tripoli, the auction starts at full Trends price.

I was going to post that coin as a whizzed example too.
It's a textbook example.
Here's what to look for:
1. Look at the surfaces and notice the micro-grooved surfaces. Parallel in patches, yet in other area, the parallel lines are going in another direction.
2. Look for a coin that at first glance looks like an ms67!! I often refer to this type of whizzed coin as:
"Good from far, but far from good."

At least the seller of this coin is completely honest in describing it. Although I suspect he might come to regret his honesty.

I don't quite understand what you mean. How can anyone regret one's honesty?

Honesty and marketing do not go together. I doubt he will get anywhere near his asking price if he needs to sell this coin.
