So they do exist, thanks for making that clear  I have noted that the site lists 38 dated coins from 1492, but only 19 from 1491. |

Levinson shows two coins from 1491 that are not rare:
- Aachen -- 1491 Mariengroschen (Very Scarce -- 50-100 coins known)
- Gottingen -- 1491 Kortling (Very Scarce -- 50-100 coins known)
There are quite a few others, but all are "rare", according to Levinson.

I may be wrong, but it seems like if there's a straight-graded VF-30 up for auction, worse examples must be available from time to time. They may just be more difficult to find.

After just over three years the time has come for this thread to be closed.  The benchmark has been reached again. The Third Edition will pick up with 1491 right here. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this and the other HFBCWG threads.  |
