Mintproducts.com sells this album if full BU for $250. I only mention this because some have said this is not a cheap album. Another said he priced it low at $250. I looked up every coin on ebay and know I can keep the price the same. I prefer to collect coins a few at a time then buy a complete album

Just got an Ike 1974-S Silver Proof graded ICG PR69-DCAM.
Big grading difference between ICG and PCGS?

That was me, and 250.00 is the low end for this set. Yes, you can pull it in yourself at that price plus cost of the album, but it will take a while and a good bit of patience. Finding these in true BU shape is getting harder and more expensive rather quickly.

Big grading difference between ICG and PCGS? Yes. On this sort of coin ICG is likely to call almost any nice specimen PR-69. It just means you have one in the top 60% or so I believe. I doubt even 2% of these would grade 69 at PCGS.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I will take some pictures and post this weekend. I looked at this coin and other then scratches on the slab, I see only 1 or 2 "marks" on the coin. After posting, I did a bit of reading on ICG vs other TPG's. Looking at PCGS population report, there are 12,106 graded PR69.

$250? well, god knows what you are going to get. If you don't want to have really nice hand selected coins and would rather just have an example of each issue- then sure, you can go that route- but it's not likely going to do anything financially for you. Still, coin collecting should be about having fun and getting out of your coins what you put into them.
For some $250 is on the low end of what they have in each coin. For others its the whole kit and caboodle. To each his or her own.

Not really sure what you are saying there cc. God knows what you are going to get? Well, the customer that purchased the coins from me got hand picked coins that were all high grade coins. I dont sell junk. I sold at that price to move the set and still made a profit. So I am not sure on your financially statement either.
And again with you telling us what collecting should be. I should get out of the coins what I put in them? Do you mean turn a profit? If so (and I am not sure how else that could be taken given the surrounding statements) then you are telling at least half the people they are collecting wrong. A good half the folks could give a rats hind parts if they ever turn a profit on their coins. They simply do not want to get gouged. Which brings us right back to, why are you basing the coins I sold for 250.00 having never seen them? I simply did not demand super high premiums for them
"Way better than described.if I could leave a higher feedback I would." That is the feedback I was left. So its not just God who knows what you get for 250.00, its that guy too.

I'm one of those who could give a rats hind end about turning a profit. I have never sold my coins. I collect for the fun of it.. That being said I have had to stop myself several times from buying the Ike BU set for $2?.00 because it takes the fun out of it. I bought a America the Beautiful set complete and it was NO fun. It was a huge chunk of money spent with out the thrill of the hunt.

Pipe, I prefer putting together set myself as well. But I know there are many out there who dont have the time or patience to do so. There are many who do not have shows and LCS to go to either. So the sets I put together are always quality coins of whatever grade it may be.

well, perhaps I owe you an apology for inferring you were selling people mediocre coins. it wasn't my intention to point a finger of blame at you. simply put, and maybe more eloquently put, buying pre made albums will typically not get you premium coins. I can speak from experience having seen the way albums get handled by a major US wholesale and catalog dealer. there are exceptions. you might find a true collector selling you a great set. this is really a game of chance going that route, however- as many sellers aren't as picky as smokeriderdon.

Also the people selling the albums can just be looking for a quick profit. So this means the coins inside can be basic ones. If you wanted a true BU with all Deep camo proofs, it would cost more than 250 I say. I don't even know what my set costed. I can try to find out but can't be 100% sure. Some ikes were bought 5 years ago.
