response from downies

The original description was incorrect. The current description in our last auction is correct , hence several bidders trying to buy it..
The company stands by this description...

Kind Regards,

If that's the case, then SURELY there was some documentation of this that they depended upon to overcome their initial information. And they would be able to supply it to you...

If the description of the item has changed then you might as well go along with it. Gather as much info as you can, be it from downies or where ever. Use that info when its time to re-sell, as they stated there are other bidders. Here's a link to a PDF with your coin on it if that helps or not...http://downies.com/aca/PDFs/315/Auc...ession_4.pdf

Shane,

I suggest that you contact the Ayres at Canberra Numisco and see if they have any information about such a supposed minting.

Cheers

The other bidders may also be explained by others also believing the description provided. I don't think 'other bidders' really adds credibility.

..Who's trying to add credibility? Just pointing out that the coin can be sold again, even at the same auction if need be. The credibility is already damaged.

Pennyman007,
I was referring to the response from Downies (not anything anyone else said). They are trying to add credibility to the item by saying 'other people were bidding too, so it must be a good item'.
I was just pointing out that other people may also have simply believed the description which is now in question.
Sorry for any confusion.

If they have documentation that caused them to change their opinion then share it. Otherwise, just because several people believed your lie doesn't make it the truth...

Ah, look on the bright side Shane, in comparison to a normal $1, you probably won't need a loupe to look at this one!

If it was a TV prop, perhaps it was held in "Two Hands"?

Had it been a proof, rather than lacquered, perhaps it would have made a "Cameo appearance" in movies like "A Fistful Of Dollars" or "For A Few Dollars More".

Very interesting .......

Hi Shane,
Has Downies provided anything to back up the change of description?
Have you found anything else out about this item?

THIS WAS MY REPLY
Hi Chris
Yes I agree that other bid but they were bidding on your description I would at least like to have a certificate of authenticity from you for this coin to say what it is and not a movie prop so I can at least sell it latter as I bought it with my super account if I can't get a certificate from you company please take this a demand letter for a return off my money and legal action will begin after 7 days from the date of this email under section 14 of your auction as this item is not as described and was last time graded a lower grade now EF
Thank you Shane
