'Moose, my recent thoughts were more in line with your earlier suggestion: keep it as is (and may be not fondle it much). But this is a good idea too, although I didn't buy one of the capsules with problems directly from the mint.

@mkman123: I know NGC is good too, but ain't both PCGS and NGC suffer from the same issues (see the list by doubleEagle'), in particular for cross-border submissions?

Unless you have a top of population grade coin or a rare coin that needs a broader US or world market appeal there is no need for NGC or PCGS slabs. If your gold coins grade above ms 64 it will be worth sending to PCGS and use secure plus service. It cost about 200.00 to slab a single coin at Pcgs, lots of insurance and shipping fees.

UPDATE

So people, I exchanged quite a few long emails with Louis during the past few days, learned some about the history, investments, and future-plans of the company, and I'm now convinced that CCCS is indeed a progressive and sustainable business (potential investors take note, seriously!).

I am convinced enough to happily submit all my Canadian coins to them, and I strongly suggest Canadians/collectors of Canadian coins to support them as well.

P.S. They are now working on the issues with their website/pop-report. I now see what people meant when they mentioned that CCCS is a company accountable to its customers.

P.P.S. No, I didn't get a job offer from them

Have you talked to any of the more prominent coin dealers about CCCS? It might be worth getting their opinion as well... just saying'...

I'm waiting for 3 more (unrelated) coins to arrive before sending them all to CCCS.

Have a good look before I send the two from 1913 off to CCCS. Note the protruding/messed-up sticker on the $5 from '13 (the one that's on top of the catalog; see in between 1 to 2 o'clock of the capsule rim).

Also a lot of musings in the description section, as if I'm an expert on this

[This is my first real YouTube video using a cheap P&S camera, so please excuse any mistakes, like the usual issues, plus glove lints on the '14 capsule, etc. HD works best]

Enjoy!

P.S.: I'm keeping my $5 from '14 intact for now.

Update: sent both gold coins from 1913 along with a few other coins (also from 1913, cut out of newer ICCS flips) to CCCS today. These won't be the first BoC hoard gold pieces to be graded by CCCS, but no pedigree was assigned for the earlier ones, so these will be the first identifiable ones in CCCS slabs.

And they are back! Other than the turnaround time, I am very happy with the final products. Both coins were conservatively graded at MS-62 (I've seen worse PCGS MS-63s, but I am not complaining). I also like their slabs very much! The plastic is more transparent and thus the coins look better/clearer in them compared to RCM capsules; I still have one in a capsule and I did actually compare them. Also, there is a window on the top-side of the slab that allows you to view the coin's info without removing it from storage/stack.

I believe these are the first CCCS graded coins to have the "Gold, Bank of Canada 2012 Release" pedigree! Here are some photos:

Thanks torgemco!

Not at all: I bought the $10 hand selected (HS) from RCM for list price. I got the $5 (also HS) from ebay for $30 more than as offered by RCM. The grading and slabbing fee was $20 each, plus shipping and optional private insurance (but I did sent some other coins as well). The total was a little less than $1600.

Thanks Tripoli!

@torgemco: I want at least one of these coins to remain in the original RCM capsule w/hologram stickers, so I'll probably keep the 1914 as is.
