...I have a pile of fake bullet coins. I keep them on my mantle so that they remind me daily that the world isn't all roses and where there are no common interests, there is no basis for trust.

Here we have one of my earliest purchases. A privately minted gold coin. A coin that weighs about 0.5 grams and is made out of 9ct gold which I paid £30 for. I bought it during the early days of the hobby when I thought the idea of a gold coin for just £30 sounded great. I did not imagine the coin would be this small:

Looks like Lincoln trespassed on someone's property in a "Stand Your Ground" state.

Don't hate the coin so much as what it represents. I keep it as a reminder.

Well, I'm not awfully fond of this one ... Rare? Yup. But the days when I wanted to fill every gap whatever the condition have now long gone. To be honest I'd much rather have a common coin, but in uncommon(ly good) condition than a banged up rarity any day. Though it took a few years to realise this!

Quote: My least attractive coin--a Solidus from Livonia (present-day Estonia and Latvia) from 1657. That's a beauty! I love this type! (Okay, I love the Christina ones even more, but I don't have a Gustav example yet.) You should've seen my 1654 (I think) solidus that I wanted to send at last year's Secret Santa - I found it again a few days ago, and it was ridiculously ugly.

Not despised, but definitely abysmal looking. I got it roll hunting and I wish it looked better, considering it's just barely possible to tell that it's a type 2.

Maybe not the most hated, but probably the one I regret the most (because I saw the "Buy It Now" price on ebay, bought it from the obverse picture without looking at the reverse picture... I hate PMD! ) 1839 Seated Liberty Half Dollar (No Drapery)
