It may be my eyes messing with me, but I still think I see it where the letters are drew out at the beginning. Can a grading service tell you for sure?

There were only a few obverse dies used in the production of 1909 s v.d.b. cents; matching the obverse to one of the known 1909 s v.d.b. obverses would confirm your suspicion.

But were any of the SVDB obverses also used on the 1909 S cents? I'm not sure but I think one or two might have been.

It's not what you think.

Everyone has paint installed on their PC.

Follow my command
1. Copy the image by right clicking then select copy image
2. Open paint up (Type paint in start if you can't find it)
3. Top left corner you should see paste
4. Click Crop (It's by paste)
5. Right click on the image, then click invert color

I use this for all HEAVY worn coins. Always does the job for me.

Google is your friend if your computer don't have paint.
Not trying to be mean but I can't help you with the download.

Yeah, solotime, I can still see it doing that on paint.

No, because the VDB on a real example is far larger than that.

Not an 09-S VDB. Sometimes we so bad want it to be one. This one has no evidence of being one. Nice key date though :-)

And also shifted further to the left.

hmm....the "s" on that coin looks really bold compared to the rest of the obverse. Probably ok, but double check to make sure it is not added. I am not seeing the vdb either, however; there are "weak" vdb coins out there....I have seen a few recently in ANACS slabs, so hard to tell for sure especially on a coin that worn.

I, unfortunately see the size difference......I appreciate everyone's eyes and expertise. Always trying to find diamonds in the rough.

Great topic and a nice of example of why people love this site.

You should be able to get a better scan of the reverse at home than you can upload to here. I know I can. You can also zoom in and out of interesting areas of the coin.

Just for the record, I don't see it either, but I'm a total novice compared to a lot of people here.
