buyers dont need a paypal account. they can plug their credit card directly into paypal as if they were using any online merchant.
sellers without a paypal account are going to loose a lot of sales ( ebay)

artdio is correct. The risk is for the buyer. If you're the seller go on.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I am a seller, so looks like e-transfer is safe for me to use. Right?

go for it member..Its a win win for you.. Now depending on Value of Item I will ship registered mail free or offer to pay half with the buyer.. A sign of good faith.. most times it ends up with future deals but privately so its good for everyone

To chime in as a buyer, if an ebay seller does not take paypal, I don't bid. I am unprotected and start off thinking they are probably shady. Don't like the fees, but feel it's the price to pay for peace of mind.

@ jgfindring

If I am not mistaking in this case it is the buyer who requested to pay via e-transfer therefor the seller has a choice if he wants to or not... As for a seller not accepting Paypal the first thing to do is check how long they have been active , How many negatives if any and for what , then make a concience decision to either have faith in the seller or not.... I have on many occasions purchased from well established sellers who do not take paypal and have never had an issue...

Yes, I am a seller and the buyer has asked if he/she can pay with e transfer.

E-transfers are fine as long as the seller is reputable. I have a friend in Germany who buys/sells on ebay and over there they use bank transfers almost exclusively.

Will someone please explain what e transfer is and how to use it. I've heard many people using it. I'm not tech savy and I struggle with new concepts. Please put your answer in a numbered step form. I just learned last month how to use Paypal family/friends a free service to send non purchase related money. Thanks in advance!!

@ pocket .... Step 1 set a payment via the bank
# 2 you then get the persons email
# 3 you send them a payment to there email via the bank.

They get it they deposit it direct and voila its done.

By far the best way I think...

It counts as an Interac transaction so whatever your fees are for that. My bank has a limit of $1k/24hrs that can be sent this way. You also need to set a security question and get the recipient the answer before they can make the deposit.
