I absolutely agree... Run far and fast. 99.9% are a scam.. With the Internet people can check for keys in a matter of minutes... There's no way someone would risk loosing big bucks selling "unsearched" rolls.

Unsearched for keys that is... If your specifically looking for varieties or minor errors you may find a few...

I see these all the time. Just looked again for humor. There were 2 or 3 sales that were well over$100 for a roll. Just find it hard to believe the persons selling havent looked through them.

I don't think thats the issue most the time. The scam part comes in to play because the sellers are making the rolls themselves.

Haha, they are definitely searched. All lies, steer a mile clear of items like those.

The majority are junk. However, there are a few that I believe are unsearched, or at least have good coins in them. I saw one where a guy gave like $3 for a roll of 1955 d pennies, and one turned out to be a double die. These are fun to bid on, and you could actually make money if you study a lot about it. I have done it on a few of them. Your best bet is to assume the coins inside of the roll are junk. You should bid on the coins outside the roll. Bid up to what the outside coins are worth and then stop. Don't get carried away. Good luck!

Probably any of the rolls with odd coins showing on one end are scams, More modern rolls may not have been searched for DDOs and RPMs but who knows what motivates a seller, greed or the fact they may have just inherited a collection/accumulation and are dumping it off because they have no interest in collecting but understand they are worth more than face value.

My guess would be scam but if you really want to test your luck I'd stay away from the ones with dimes or other crazy enders because that really seems odd to me.

You need to look at feedback. If other people are finding good things, and you can get it cheap, take a chance. There prices are way down right now. I have found good ones before.

1883 Indian Head and1909 Lincoln ends?
But roll filled with 1930's, 40's, 50's wheats?
Get me once shame on you, get me twice shame on me.
I had purchased 4 rolls one day, logged them
all I broke even on the Red Book side.

Now they may be like me. I use a Ryedale to search a large quantity, I do check dates but I only look for stuff 1920 and before, and check the 1955s for DDO. I don't really know many varieties. I should probably educate myself a bit more :)

Totally a scam. I know people seed the rolls, too. Or have their friends bid and then say that got some cool stuff. Some one posted an ebay auction a few months back where someone was selling a bunch Wheat cent bags, sorted by decade, complete with seeds coins. They even said you could make an unsearched roll company.

I've got a good 15 rolls of the '09 "formative years" cent that are all in the original rolls. They came in through my work when they were new, and are probably eventually headed for ebay. If the coins are in the original roll (specifically the "shotgun" style that cannot be opened and re-closed), there is a good chance that your roll is unsearched. Likewise, you have a slight chance at legitimate unsearched coins when buying wheat cents "by the pound". Your odds of an 09-s VDB or 22 plain are slim, but you might get some coins that are from the teens or in good condition.

Nobody in their right mind would EVER sell an unsearched roll with silver, gold, or exceptionally rare coins for enders.
