Happy Independence Day!!!! My neighbors have been "celebrating" the 4th by blowing stuff up for about a week now, so posting this a day early isn't a big deal!

Some of those bright colors C64 is seeing might be the nasty sunburn I got hanging out in my sister's pool today. So much for the sunblock... ow!

DEEP IMPACT of a 370kg space probe into a comet, at a speed of 10 Kilometeres a second, (36,000 kilometers an hour)will happen in a few hours. Should produce some fireworks. The energy released is equivalent to about 5 tonnes of TNT.

Hello! NASA's "Deep Impact" indeed provided the best fireworks so far. It was nice to see a success in light of all the trouble they have had the last few years! Happy Independence Day to NASA and congratulations! Mike

Trivia for the fourth of July

Now the folks down under and across the pond know this answer;

so for all the Americans celebrating the 4th of July, Who is Guy Fawkes
and what does Guy Fawkes day have in common with the fourth of July.

Hi, Richard.

I'll take a shot at Guy Fawkes Day.

Guy Fawkes Day is remembered on Nov 5, the anniversary of the "Gunpowder Plot" of 1605. The Gunpowder Plot was a conspiracy to blow up the English Parliament in 1605, for the purpose of starting a Catholic uprising in England. Guy Fawkes was one of the conspirators, and was captured as he entered the cellar beneath Parliament where the gunpowder was stored.

Every Nov 5, Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated in Great Britain with fireworks and bonfires, where effigies of Fawkes are burned.

Of course, I'm skipping over a few details, but I think I got the basics.
