- Complete my 1913 decimal set:
- have 1c, 5c, 10c SL, $5, $10
- need a BL dime, quarter, 50c piece
- Complete and possibly upgrade my low- to mid-end NGC registry 1 cent circulation type-set:
- 4 down (1907H-61BN, 1936-65RD, 1937-65RD, 2002P-66RD)
- 2 to go (Victoria and George V)
- Stop buying NCLT, except maybe for three of the 20-for-20s
- Try selling some coins

1. Finish 1858 set 2. Start/Finish 1908 set 3. Sell excess/duplicates/figure out what to do with boxes of pennies 4. Finish MS loonie set (not specimen varieties) 5. Would love to finish 1914 set, but not willing to spend $800 for $10 gold, competing priorities 6. Finish Silver proof Dime and Fifty cent collection

IMHO... Get rid of your copper plated zinc cents if you have them, purelywasted. If they are like ours, and I do believe the RCM bought from Jarden Zinc, they will go bad after a few years of storage. I have read of collectors that go to open mint state rolls of them years later only to find they have corroded together. Your plated steel ones probably will behave better. I hate our Zincolns down here. They look awful after 3-4 years.

Sell most of my NCLT, including my triplicate 20 for 20, and expand my circulation coin collection pre-1968. Also looking at expanding my banknote collection, pre-BoC issues.

2014 Goals:
1. complete date set of Cdn cents/pennies through 1967 (needing MS60 each of 1929, 1932 through 1936)
2. complete 20th century date set of Cdn 50 cent pieces through 1967 (needing most KE7, and some KG5)
3. otherwise keep an eye on auctions etc. to expand Cdn date sets of nickels, dimes, and quarters through 1967 - no end goal in mind for 2014 as so many are needed, and it will depend on what is offered quality wise at the price levels I am willing to pay (nickels will most likely be improved significantly and will be first priority due to price point).

Get my small penny varieties and errors organized! I've got 5 thick binders, 15 trays, and random stacks of 2x2's all over my desk in addition to spare rolls of them. I love them all, but I'd also love to make me a list of all my different ones -- last count I had over 1000 different small cents (errors, varieties, error varieties, die progressions, etc), but that last count was 2 years ago and I've accumulated more since then... a list/photo list would be easier to take around to the coin shops and shows, or I could create a computerized file and take my cell phone to access it which would be easier yet, but I find it easier to search for more new varieties and errors than to organize my existing collection for some reason... crazy! lol

I started Provincial coins last year...a bit of a money vacuum! Not sure if I'll finish this year, but the goal is to complete all the Vickies, then start on the later dates (although I've already cheated a few times :). I did the $2 golds first so that is out of the way. It is amazing how worn many of the NFLD coins are...seems like a handful of high grade coins out there, which are beyond me and lots and lots in the G or VG category. Canadian News Trends seems to show this in the pricing guide, although some dates are just rare in any condition. Lots of fun! :)
It should work out unless I get sidetracked with Canada decimal coinage, I'd like to focus on 1947, so many varieties.

Being new to coins, my goals for 2014 are: 1) learn more about the hobby 1b) buy and read through the Charlton Standard (bought it today!) 2) work on loonie collection (missing many regular years and commemorative) 3) work on toonie collection 4) look into mint sets, banknotes or something else to start collecting

I'm going to try to add as many 1954 and later banknotes I can that I don't already own.
