Quote:cud An area of a coin struck by a die that has a complete break across part of its surface. A Cud may be either a Retained Cud, where the faulty piece of the die is still in place, or a full Cud, where the piece of the die has fallen away. Retained Cuds usually have dentil detail if on the edge, while full Cuds do not. from glossary. The reason there is no detail on the other side of the coin is because the metal went into the Cud and there was none or very little to fill the design elements on the reverse.

Thanks I will post better pics. When I saw it , my mouth dropped and I said this is rare for me to find- big droplet and totally missing letters on reverse it is unique looking I should say.

You may try backing away from the coin a little. The coin may be a little smaller in the picture, but it may be more in focus. You can then crop out the background and show just the coin

see if your camera has a MACRO setting. It may be represented by a Flower icon. Turn that on and closeups of coins will be sharper.
