Ah! If I recall I read a thread about this coin a while ago, know what you need DV the 1859 Canada cent 9\8 and the ultra rare I think its either the 5 or 10 cent piece from Canada with an 1858 over a 1558.

I especially like the 1858/1558--very dramatic!
I cherry-pick all my overdates--but I haven't had luck with Canada coins--yet.

Thirty years ago, I was always on the lookout for ANY red unc or near unc foreign copper or bronze coins in dealer's junk boxes.
I am now very glad I was.
I would have jumped at this one as well. Nice coin. Overdate adds interest and value. Cudos to you for spotting it!

Sel, that's a very good strategy!  If you've rescued a lot of nice coins from junk boxes, you might also have a few overdates. |

Nice grade It's one of the many Belgium overdates, last year I found a couple of overdates but not that nice as yours..  |

Sander, yes--Belgium has a lot of overdates, and mostly common. I see ones I already have on ebay all the time. |

I find it interesting that Belgium stopped minting the 2 cent coin in 1914, and began again in 1919. This corresponded with the years it was occupied by Germany during WWI. I a assuming when the mint workers returned to work after Germany pulled out they just changed the date on an existing 1914 die. So in a way your overdate was caused by a war.

Don't forget Colombia, there are some very distinct overdates well into the mid 20th century

Yea they really phoned it in. Those 6's look more like avocados cut in half.
