Read through the threads coinsaus it has all the information I posted. I meant at port macquarie Gold Coast was of the top of my head. By the way I never said that investigo were on ebay all I said was that Apcgs coins are being sold by Peter Wallace on ebay.

It is being done by an active coin dealer: runs APCGS and Investigo

I was reading through some of these threads and it is stated on it that they are investigo on ebay. You believe Peter Wallace is the head of APCGS?

No I don't believe Peter Wallace runs it but ask the reputation of him around the forum and he is notorious for cleaning and/or over grading coins. They run a website I believe probably stopped on ebay due to neg feedback.

As the adage goes "A coin is worth whatever a collector is willing to pay". The 1930 Penny is extremely popular and it is a big time status symbol amongst collectors. There are way rarer coins out there, even in terms of Australian coins, but the 1930 Penny is the one which people want.

Not only by the sheer amount sold on ebay over the past decade but there has been rumors that a bag of 5000 coins had been found by a person in WA I think it was.

A bag of 5000 $1 mules? I'd be exceptionally sceptical because when the coin presses run all the coins got pooled into one main hopper which would then fill the bags. Here is an article confirming an estimate of around 6000-7000 based on the amount found.

Yes it is world famous but I'm almost certain that I have read that it actually does not make it into the top 100 world coins

Top 100 for what? value? rarity? popularity?
The 1930 penny is one of the most expensive copper coins in the world. Its value has dropped a bit since the GFC but so have nearly all coins and banknotes.

Sure you can get one at an auction house for as little as $15k but auction house prices are always lower than retail prices and when you add the 20% buyers premium at actually costs you $18k.

Demand is dropping at an alarming rate as decimal collecting has taken over the market, and the older generation of collectors are a dying breed.

I would completely disagree with that. The demand for high grade predecimal coins is still strong. In fact they are a victim of their own popularity. Many high grade florins and pennies are so expensive now that it is out of reach of many people. Fortunately for those who can't afford predecimals, decimal coins have become very collectable over the past few decades. It's not "either / or".

MOR

A lot of comments are pure conjecture or unsubstantiated rumour.
