I agree with the others that this is most likely a scam of some sort.

They are not asking me for money or anything, only to help them organize a meeting in the bank in Zurich, but I find the coin so ridiculous, that I want to make sure it is fake, before I turn them down.

DO NOT, I repeat, do not get involved in STUFF like this. DO NOT allow anyone to rope you into anything dealing with money. There are so many scams out there like this that they start being funny. IF, for some reason this is for real, so what? Nothing to do with you so leave it all alone. There are all kinds of legal people that have spent their lives getting an education in order to fix, find, coorect, etc. Let them handles this.

Expect the request for money to be their next step.

Why not give us their contact info and let us have some fun with them. Let us show them that we see through their scam. If what they are telling you is true, all you will need to do is wire us the money for all the fees and we will split the profit.

They state that within the medallion, which is the above mentioned One Million Dollars Coin supposedly from 1923, there is a encrypted Julius Baer Gold Certificate which is visible using specific equipment and that both Julius Baer or Credit Suisse are able to verify this.

I'm not entirely sure we've got the technology to do this today. They certainly didn't have the technology to do it in 1923. "They" are lying through their teeth.

Here's a smelly 1-post member from 2011 who signed up only to defend the authenticity of this stupid fake coin:

Quote:
gb2002: The coin is real, however the actual value is from a account number which was printed on the coin, the coin is not worth a million dollars however the account had 1 million in it in 1923. If you own the coin you own the account plus interest. ( substancial monies) .The problem is you have to find the bank with the account ie deutche bank and they have to tell you what lighting and angle to read the number..Once the account is located someone has to have an account with the bank to get it read.

His story sounds suspiciously similar to this recent story!! I am worried that this is a multi-year organized scamming operation

Numbers carved into gold that can only be read under certain lighting conditions? Whoever dreamed up this story must have read The Hobbit a few too many times. Here on Earth, there's no such thing as moon-runes.

One coin to rule them all, One coin to find them, One coin to bring them all, and in the darkness...take as money as they can and disappear into the nothingness of the interwebs.

This is the funniest thing I have read all week! That other thread was also really funny! I don't see how anyone would believe this.
