Cast copy. It could make an interesting conversation piece.

The cast pits are a dead giveaway as are the uneven circles and "mushy" lettering.

So, we always see the fakes, but what do the real coins look like? Did they ever circulate?

There was a story in Coin World in 2012 where a guy bought one for like $10.00 at a flea market in 1980 carried it in his wallet for 30 years till a friend told him it looked real. Sent in and came back ms 60 I think no one could believe 1 it was real 3 30 years in his wallet and no wear. You can maybe google it great reading

That's the NGC 67, Top Pop for the entire issue. Hammered over half a million in 2012. Get out your checkbook.

Quote: Hammered over half a million in 2012 So that means another 250K now I think it's this coin. From Superior Galleries' "Pre-Long Beach Coin Sale", May 27-29, 2001, Lot 1008

It was $1 he paid. One of my favorite stories. http://www.coinworld.com/articles/1...ves-windfallFavorite part.... "Cucci agreed, so Martin sent it in for grading and authentication. On Feb. 23, the coin arrived back from PCGS. Martin called Garry at home. "Are you sitting down?" John asked Cucci. So he sat down. "I am now." "The coin came back real and is graded a very high Mint State 64 by PCGS. I estimate it's worth between $100,000 to $115,000," Martin told him." You sitting down? epic nice.

Darn good looking coins! I was so excited at just the thought of seeing one up front. Maybe one of the owners will exhibit one of these coins someday soon (Please!) I agree it is a great conversation piece. I haven't ever seen a fake before up close either.
