What do they look like when missing a clad layer? Could this be one?does look kind of like other pics of acid treatment ive seen but at the same time all the tiny little raised bumps look very uniform I dont know if this is acid treated-the experts will tho

No, a missing clad layer would look brownish-red, like an early copper cent in MS

If the reeding is gray colored, it might be a science experiment to add zinc to the surface of the quarter? If the color is copper on the edge, then it maybe an acid dipped quarter. But I'm leaning more to the first theory I suggested.

Coop, I think I see copper around the edge on the reverse pic, so I'm kind of leaning toward acid dipped/sand blasted

Slamnbass, most likely an attempt, albeit a poor one, to create an "error coin" to try and dup someone. :)

A view of the edge of the coin would be helpful?

Almost looks painted? But looking at the weakness of the devices, it maybe an acid dipped example. Either way it ruins collectable value for the coin.

One clue that it was done post strike is the large hit on Washington's cheek. A hit like that would have to be post strike but notice the bottom of the mark has the same appearance as the field and the rest of the bust. That means that whatever caused this finish had to have happened AFTER the mark was made. If the finish came first that hit would not have the finish.

These are two diff coins. The picture at first coin posted not mine, that was posted awhile back. The current pictures are mine (no strike to washingtons face) my coin looks exactly like original post. It is Just strange 2 coins same year, same state, same "post mint damage". When I found mine,i did some research and found this posting and I added to it.
