The 1927-s slq is graded to a whole different standard than other slqs....mostly because they are known for exceptionally weak strikes. Normally I would call a coin like this G-4 with a shot at 6...but being a 1927-s; its a VG.

I have a suspicion that the rolling and blanking for these may be a little inconsistent, inasmuch as there may be hard and soft areas on the blanks, which gives rise to the observation that some areas wear at different rates on the same area on differnt coins.

This will result in different grading opinions, when we look at different areas of the coin , rather than the same areas.

That would make the '27s SLQ harder to grade.

I'm leaning toward VG08 for the OP coin in this particular date,
much nicer in person with a decent patina.

-Very slightly more detail than another 27-S SLQ I have which I think is G06 :

JMHO -Ron

Appreciate the input, always an education here

yes, I think the coin is a VG-8 considering the date.

This is about as much of a condition rarity as you'll ever see. Even more so than the prices would suggest. This coin is probably currently over-valued in lower circulated grades, such as this one unfortunately, and such pieces are really a dime a dozen. Then, try finding this date in a high grade.
