I've been collecting Oz copper for a few years and it's not just the different dates and mint marks, there are also a couple of different die pairings for some dates in the series. The 1931 Indian mint die obverse with a dropped 1 in the date on the reverse is the rarest. A mintage of 20- 50 is the hot tip.
Some these different die pairings have been referred to as mules in recent times, but have my reservations if they were indeed unintended die pairings or not

The 31 dropped Indian obverse is a rarity indeed, however the 1920 dot above bottom scroll [Sydney Mint], London obverse,is even rarer with 3 known and rumours of maybe another 2.

Oh, that's right gnome, totally forgot about that 1. On this subject is there a genuine 1930 penny London obverse penny?

I see them all the time in the dealers scratch tray usualy for around $1.00 or $.50 US

In regards to the 1930 penny, I believe there are 2 obverses used, the London and the Indian.

I have a 1943 with a die crack over the kangaroo and I only payed 55 cent for I love the roo on the reverse

G'day Amac44, that 'roo remains popular with all Aussies old enough to remember it.
You'll see another, smaller 'roo, hopping in the opposite direction, on halfpennies of the same era.
The 'roos were last issued in 1964.
And the 'roo on QANTAS was very similar for many years, but in recent times, she has become more "artistic".
I see you are "USARMY retired". I don't know if you've had much to do with the Australian Army, but they emblazon the 'roo, hopping as on the penny, an anything they want to be recognizably Oz. And all Royal Australian Air Force aircraft carry a red kangaroo.
George KRUGER-GRAY's design will be 70 years old next year, and it continues to serve us well. A lot of us hoped it would adorn the dollar coin introduced in 1984, but instead, the government chose the "Mob of 'Roos", with five 'roos, in various postures: clearest example of inflation that I could imagine !

I think I have a few pre decimal coppers and silvers and bank notes oh and some shiny stuff I think they are called gold sovereigns other than Aussie decimals & pre decimals what else is there to collect rggoodie
