I would add an 1859 Indian head as the reverse is different and it does not have a shield.

Hmmm, some others that I see missing would be Shield nickel w/ rays and then with out rays for the later years. Also, I always enjoyed the arrows and rays coinage even if you don't want to do separate entries for arrows and rays and then another entry for just rays.

Still, very impressive collecting goal, should be a great challenge to put together!

What are the odds? Just last week I decided to start on this exact collection! I was still trying to find a good list of coins needed. Mind if I use yours? Maybe we can race to the finish line! ;)

What about all of the seated liberty types? Different reverses in 1860 for the dime and Half Dime, addition of the motto on the reverse of everything else in 1866, arrows at date for 1854-55 and 1873-74, no stars varieties for 1837-38 dimes and Half Dimes, and 1853 arrows and rays for the quarter and half. I also large diameter bust quarters and bust dimes, small eagle bust coinage, T3 3-cent silver, two different reverses for the reeded edge bust half dollar, and maybe Lincoln Wheat cent without VDB on the shoulder. The only thing I would add for the gold in the motto / no motto designation for the Liberty Heads and the Saint-Gaudens.

I'm not trying to be overly-critical, but I you're aspiring for a complete type set, these are some of the ones not on your list that are considered individual types.

I'm a 20-year-old college student. I, too, see this as a lifelong project. Excited for it, though.

Well, before you start, I've updated it to around 135 coins. Let me post the pictures.

I really want to see the completed list. I'll probably print it off for myself.

My favorites are the Capped Bust quarters. You need a large variety and a small variety. Both are called capped bust, but are very different types.

Once all of my coins arrive in the mail from LCC and others back from PCGS, I'll have around 30 checked off.

Hey jpbone - I included one the large and smalls quarters.
Here's a list of U.S. commemorative $1s that I made because I thought I was going to pursue that.

I agree with the others, I might have to steal this list for myself ;)

A couple more suggestions: Make two commemorative half slots, one for 90% and one for the clad kind. You also didn't put on commemorative quarter (Isabella) although I think you said in the beginning you were keeping some expensive coins off the list so maybe that is one of those.

Is there any way I can attach a document so I don't have to keep posting pictures?

Not that I know of. If you are tech savy you could put it on Google docs.
