Quote: It appears to be RR-37, Bressett 10-M per Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial And Early American Coins. 6 known to-date, this would be a 7th....? Very rare. Those bidding on this coin know what it is. GERMANICVS.....was that a good deal on the coin ? Just curious.

Quote: Wow, what kind of shipping would you use for that? USPS Registered Insured mail is the best bet for a coin like this.

Wow. That guy must have made a ton of money on that if the buyer pays.

Wow...it's not often I see a coin that goes that high. I wonder if the seller was (pleasantly) shocked by the final price?

It would be nice to know, DV. If he/she didn't realize its value and it sold for this amount, I can't imagine how stoked they would be.

If the Buyer pays through PayPal then the Seller MUST be able to prove delivery. On a valuable coin such as this, Registered Mail is the only way to go. Hand delivering this item to the Buyer could leave the Seller open to an "item not received" complaint/dispute.

according to the story I saw on a site that cant be linked to said " Well you always hear the apocryphal stories about the little old widow whose husband left her one beat up coin that he bought for $5 in a junk box, then it turns out to be a super rarity. Sometimes, it happens! Every time you hear something like this on ebay, you generally want to run in the other direction. But last week, a casual ebay seller whose current store consisted of a dolls head, a beat up flag, some cuff links and a few other odds and ends also included what appeared to be a low grade Vermont Coin. With so many experts scouring ebay these days, it was soon identified as an extremely rare Ryder 37 Vermont Copper. Including this coin, there are 7 known, so an R-7+. It was a problem free F/VF which stands as among the finest. It quickly started attracting bids. The seller, who was genuinely selling it for his little old widow friend, started getting nervous but was reassured by several sellers telling him to wait and let the auction run. At $3,000 they were becoming stunned, and despite a few requests to end the auction for what appeared to be a very attractive sum, they did let it run. In the final moments, the coin nearly reached $13,000. Then the snipes kicked in and in 7 seconds it ended up selling for $29,900. Pretty much all the money. The seller and eBayer were "shell shocked". The money for her (them) given where she was in life was truly transformative. What a story.....nice ending." Also, even if the person who bid the 30k backed out it is my understanding their were 2 other bidders in the same price range who would probably love to have it. What a story huh? one of the best of the year imo. I wonder if CoinWorld or somewhere will do an article on it. I think they should.

Alrighty then And yes, the bidders knew exactly what it was. I'm hand delivering this one. No way I'd send that through any delivery method. Bank wire into my account with proof and receipt.

Quote: If the Buyer pays through PayPal then the Seller MUST be able to prove delivery I'm sure the buyer would be just as nervous as the seller about the coin getting lost in the mail and if I was the buyer I would offer the seller $300 to cover airfare to hand deliver a rarity like that one. I mean what is $300 on a$30K coin? 1%? I'm sure a signed bill of sale and a selfie showing delivery with the buyer would suffice in a court of law. But then again "according" to ebay every sale is a legal binding contract yet there are 10's of thousands of non paying bidders everyday and ebay could care less. Quote: Bank wire into my account with proof and receipt I don't trust Paypal and credit card with all of chargeback options and Paypals quick to take your money or freeze your account just because someone emails them and says "I don't like it anymore"
