Wow, just considering starting a type set. If I do half as well I will be happy. Most excellent!

Looks pretty darn good to me! I would work on those empty spots.

Quote: That's a really nice Barber half! Could I get a closeup? Sure, it's a beaut, took me several months of searching to find... I'll post a picture later tonight Also, thanks for the encouragement everyone, I just won a nice near uncirculated FE cent on ebay, hopefully it looks nicer in hand, the pictures were terribly grainy. Is it just me or are Flying Eagle cents really tough to find with decent eye appeal? Part of the reason why I've been putting it off.. I'm also adding a nice MS morgan to that spot tonight. As far as the other holes, the only ones currently unfilled are the Seated dollars. Seated coinage isn't my favorite, so I just pretend those holes aren't there So many other ways to spend 600+ dollars...

I would fill the holes and up grade the draped bust Half Cent, the 16-39 coronet cent, the Flying eagle, maybe the 37-59 Half Dime, the 53 arrows Half Dime, possibly the 38-65 quarter that crease is distracting, the 53 arrows half, and the Morgan dollar. None of those upgrades are really expensive and they will greatly improve the visual impact of the set.

Very nice . I'm just starting, and will try to fill all the slots first, as suggested on this post. Don't know how long it will take, but looking and talking about the set is most enjoyable .

That is a beautiful looking set! Great job! Major accomplishment!!It appears that the grade changes considerably from the seated material and previous to barber material and later. After you get your holes all filled, I would focus on upgrading the seated material to the level of the later material. It may take a while, but be patient. I have been working on my 7070 for 5 years, and am still eyeing upgrades...lol

This is very true; I think I will upgrade all post Seated coinage and work my way back... Btw, I've been following your 7070 upgrades, very impressive I think I'm going to start selling some coins to replenish my coin funds...

I'm not a fan of type sets. I never could get interested in one of each coin. I still have a 20th Century Type set but I still wonder why. To each their own but I'd always rather have Albums. Yours is OK as is so I suggest just finishing it and put on a shelf as most people end up doing.

Nice looking set, but your 1857 Flying Eagles concerns me. Some of the details on it do not look correct and my concern is that it may be a Chinese fake.

I echo the previous comments, fill the remaining holes first, your set looks great! If I were to upgrade anything I would start with the draped Half Cent and then maybe try to upgrade all the Seated half dimes, those aren't really budget killers, but before that I would definitely get the remaining coins to make it complete. I am 3 coins away from finishing my own 7070 album and it is much like yours in terms of overall condition. I like it!
