The people who sell coins for a living are always looking for an additional revenue stream....

What it seems to me is that PQ is just trying to make money for something that isn't really necessary.
BUT the sticker does look good and people would most likely pay the extra premium for it.

The idea of CAC was successful. They got people to pay extra because the coin got the sticker.

Of course these coins do look better than others and probably should have a small premium.

It is yet another BS gimmick. I do not give cac coins more "credit" nor will these new stickers make a coin worth more to me. It's bad enuff so many dealers sell slabs - now they get more gimmicks to mark up coins for - I can judge how good they look for myself! I tend to eliminate coins with gimmicks because sellers price them ridiculously high and buyers "fall for" the sucker game and drive prices on them up as well. LOSE-LOSE for most collectors.

That David Lawrence write-up is interesting. Mainly because I find their coins to be "poor" looking typically - compared to what I am looking for. Their buffs always seem to have fugly toning and their gold has lustre and clean-look issues. Whoever their supplier is funnels a lot of garbage their way, IMO! So, if they are only buying 4-5 stars, I'd hate to see what they consider a 1. I have bought from them once off of ebay. But 1 out of maybe 500 I've looked at, between ebay and their auctions, is a pretty poor %.

The purpose of slabs isn't always just to tell you how nice your coin is. Many just send their coins to be authenticated, grading is just a plus.

We've all seen coins slabbed by the major TPGs poorly graded. Everyone makes mistakes. A CAC sticker adds an added level of confidence for the buyer.
I get it.
If all one wants to consider when buying a coin is the TPG grade + CAC + (insert another sticker hawker's sticker here), it's not a bad way to go. Seriously.

I don't mind the green beans, a lot of my Morgans are beaned, but then again... I mainly buy colorful toners which are more often than not beaned. It's getting harder and harder to find non beaned toners... Let alone raw... Which I prefer... But I'll tell you what, I have more than a few that have a green bean that I believe should be gold as they're definitely undergraded.. But hey, everyone make mistakes.

There's the company "WINGS" as well... so there's three now...heck, send them to the TPG'er... Then all three companies and take an an average of the results, lol... You wont even be able to read the label.

I wasn't implying wings was a fraudulent company or anything negitive, only that there's others out there that do the same sort off thing as CAC. And if memory serves me I remember the other posts about them, I fact I've brought them up before, maybe in one of those links, lol. And again, "if" memory serves me they only do world coins, not US while CAC only does US... But don't quote me on that, lol.

Just a quick post...

Some of you are saying you won't pay a premium for a nicer coin. So you mean you want a coin that barely makes the grade or do you want one that almost makes the next grade and it's the same grade as the barely grade one but just for a small premium?

Sorry, I was not implying that you were implying anything.

I just wanted people to know there has been some discussion before, and that one of their managers (MightyMikeMIami) has made himself available to the community for questions. That is all.

If this trend continues the TPGs will need to make the slabs bigger to hold all the stickers!

They will start to look like that one ebay seller with the pizza stickers lol. " You can buy this coin for the price of only five pizzas " lol.

I guess your trying to be funny, but inflated pricing isn't all that funny to me.

I personally don't believe that CAC beaned coins are truly in the top X% of their grade - as they are proposed to be.

Randomly pick 10 coins for a grade ( 9 un-beaned and 1 beaned ) and the 1 that is CAC isn't necessarily the best of the 10, IOW. IMO it might be 4th, 5th ? on average. Some say that is because the others were never submitted ( tho no way to know unless you submit them yourself ) but I say from my observations I am unimpressed with the CAC coins in-general. Some look very good for the grade and some NOT. If the idea is sight-unseen trust that a CAC coin is a TOP 5% for its grade, then my observations is they don't deliver - at all!

Thus I don't really BUY INTO IT. That many are willing to TRUST IN CAC and pay considerably more for the one that has the CAC bean ... I'm just not "falling for" the gimmick. I have bought some CAC coins, but I didn't ( and won't ) pay a premium for them. If a nice coin I want happens to have a CAC sticker fine - but I won't pay extra for it!
