Cruisin- I actually sold four of them so I only have three quarters and three halves. I have no plans to do that yet as a set but its something to consider for sure!

I grade the '25-D QE as a nice MS-63. Looks like it has attractive coloration and plenty of luster, just a bit mushy on the headdress behind the ear and a few too many stray marks. The 1909 HE is a very nice, sharp AU-58. Lovely coin. Both are very nice, but I think NGC was more 'eyes on target' with the HE.

Yeah, I agree with EarlyTurban on the 25-D, though there could be more luster than visible that caused them to up the grade. I have to say though, I think the 1909 is exceptional for the grade. I can see evidence of cartwheel luster, which is usually absent from Indians until you get into the MS range. Lots of device luster too, very few marks, with just a bit of friction on the cheek and top of the eagle's wing. I've seen coins like that in MS62 slabs. Its a real keeper!

Interesting, thanks guys. They will arrive monday and I still have the option to return the 1925D quarter. I may do so unless its just that beautiful in person.

Very nice coins. Would love to have them. Does the flat surface of the 58 look better than the 64, or am I seeing things?

Edweather, something about that particular 58 just looks extremely sharp. I see it too. I don't have these in person yet though..

Love them both but especially the 58. I think AU58 is a great grade, a lot of times they have more eye appeal then lower grade MS coins, until you hit MS65+ coins.

Well you guys were right. The coins came today.
The 58 $5 is one of the best 58 examples I have seen and its better then the other two I own. I think it was undergraded! But what do I know.. It actually has the cartwheel luster that showed in the photo which I hoped was really there but wasn't expecting. The 58 really stands out from my other coins. It is incredibly sharp. My other 58s dont have that luster.
The 64 $.5 is real nice except for the weak spot on the front. Nice luster and tone all around. But not the sharpest coin I have seen.
Squirrel777- You are correct. The low MS coins sometimes are "dirty" coins even though that luster shines through. My 58s have all been keepers.

I like the 1909 much better.
The 1925 D doesn't much of a nice look.
I always considered MS-60,MS-61, MS-62 and MS-54 grades you don't buy unless it's too expensive in higher grades.

I personally like the 1909 much better than the 1925D.
Some AU-58s, like this one, have much cleaner surfaces and better eye appeal, but cannot grade higher because of the slightest of wear.
I personally have no problem buying a 58 with cleaner surfaces and crisper strike over a 64 with chatter and little marks all over, even if I've got the money for the 64.

I think AU-58 because it is the highest AU possible, and there is some wear apparent, especially on the wing of the eagle.

I decided to keep the ms 64 1925D. Its nice but definitely not perfect. I like it for now but may move it down the road for a sharper one. Price wasn't bad for the grade.
In fact, I have a really beautiful one coming probably in a few weeks- the nicest so far most likely. I will post photos another time after its fully paid for.

Hey can anyone tell me what the circular rim is going around some of these coins through the letters and stars?
