Recently visited Empress of Ireland exhibit in Gatineau/Ottawa at Canadian Museum of History - very well done - comprehensive, with many retrieved artifacts on display...well worth visiting should you be traveling to the Capital any time soon.

Got the 'set' in the mail today. I'm quite impressed, but where the Titanic had 'unique' souvenirs in each, this one came with 'copies' of two different post cards, and a letter. As expected, however, the coin and the stamps are excellent. The book - yet to be read - looks very informative, and in both official languages.

SS EDMUND FITZGERALD is the next and final coin of this series...which is not too surprising...

This final offering has much the same deep dark haunting blue colouration image as the first empress of Ireland coin...which perhaps has some connection to the fact that both ships went down during darkness hours...
Can't help connecting Gordon Lightfoot's beautiful timeless tribute tune to this shipwreck...a victim of the gales of November...on a big lake they call, Gitche Gumee

Today is the 40th Anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Wikipedia has a great article on it and utube some great docs on it. RIP their crew of 29. Apparently Gordon lightfoot still goes to sing at yearly memorial.

Anyone get this coin and can post images. It would be nice to see and hear opinions! The coin got me interested in researching the event last week. A very sad tale for both countries. The article is very extensive and a great reading. I had the song playing on repeat, while I read the wekipdia page. It went down in less than 10 mins with no distress call. Lets remember those brave sailors!

Yea I would like to see some in hand pics also if possible.

I dont remember it going down as I was too young but I learned about it from my father when as a family we traveled to the U.P. of Michigan and I believe the day we visited they had something going on marking the date.

Mcshilling that is an awesome coin! Nice attention to detail, I need to get one once settles where it doesn't drop anymore. It looks better than I expected.

Now if someone would kindly post a pic of the Franklin ship coin! These 3 should compliment the titanic coins nicely.
