THAT is license plate art? VERY good SIR, I could not tell it is license plates! you are indeed an artist. Quote:
I love the Cutler Roll top desk.....but a word of warning Oak wood and coins do not mix. The Oak gives of some trace chemical fumes ( even when well seasoned) which corrodes the coins. Cherry or mahogany are much safer woods for coins really? did not know that..i keep my coins on a mat on the desk..is that good enough? long term storage is in a safe short term is in a drawer |

Oak on a window sill is a great way to retone a coin.

I discovered the problem years ago with some tin toys stored in a black lacquered oak display cabinet, I found they were deteriorating took them in to be restored and the expert took one look and said "Oak". Seems its a curse of many metals. When I started collecting coins...I saw I nice antique coin cabinet (Oak) remembering the tin toys I asked around and was told its also bad for coins. If the coins are slabbed or are in acrylic capsules it probably would not be anything to worry about. well i'l be dingdongdiddleydawged..i did not know that thanks for the heads up.. I will be moving to ammo cans in the safe... click clack....nice chair,,i have one in the living room looks kinda like it..i still call dibs on the cushions  |

Thanks guys! My grandpa is the reason I collect coins and like John Wayne. He is also the person that gave me my avatar coin. I wrote a story about that on the "A Coin's Life" thread in the main forum. FYI if you are interested in reading it. Edited by Mr Click
