The problem will be: if it "hot" coin, it never will be discounted, and if not - you will not want it, since it will be already outdated, and plenty of the new stuff will be minted.

As example: sometimes the 2013 O Canada 1oz coins could be found for $75-$80 instead of $89, or some of the Crystal coins (Maple, Snowflake, Flowers) sells with discount ($100 instead of $119)....but not many people interested in these "old" coins.

The question for me is how to determine if a coin is going to be a "hot coin" before its sold out ?

Right, but as far as I can see the great lakes are not very hot...plus hot coins are few and far between but even those don't really stay hot, most are just alot of hype when first released.

Well you can pretty much count on anything with 10k mintage or higher not too be a hot coin, ya maybe some are hyped at release and are "sold out" at the mint but other dealers will have them , don't fall for the awaiting stock trick at the mint to determine that a coin is hot...

You're right guys. It was my 3rd great Like subscription. It was like a joke to receive just the coin and the COA, no box. I think the first coin of the series had a box (with the subscription).

The fact that is sold out or not some coin is not the only factor to take in consideration. If a coin is very poor sold, after the RCM rapport, we will have a very low mintage coin like happened I think with the new baby coin.

Congrats for the coin, Arianzo.
Logically, I can assume, that the first was in the case, because that time we didn't have the subscription box. And now we have a box to store the coins. Need to say - good Mint's decision (sending the 1-st in the box)

Ya I hear ya but with the great lakes coins the mintages are quite high so there will be lots floating around in the next year 1 or 2 at dealers etc.

Its possible I made a mistake canceling the sub but I really don't think I will have a hard time filling the extra slots.

I have the gold Allegory with 2000 mintage which was not a very popular coin at all, the mint even tried to repackage it as a set..will be interesting to see how many of those are actually out there.

This is your second chance to keep the subscription.
You have only 2 coins to go. How much you will save on them - $20-$25, right? But first, you already will be interested in the other coins, and not to return to complete this sub, second - here, if you will have some issues with the enamel, it will be easy to get it replaced by RCM.

True that, ugh.....but I am still burning from the 20 percent discounts at C/A and shopping channel on coins that I bought directly from the mint so I will have to think on it some more, its not the end of the world if I don't finish the set for some reason ....but that would bother me too lol...
