 after looking for a few and turned away I see it clearly. I see in the S in states is that considered die fatigue or chatter? |

What I'm seeing on the last few images is machine damage on the right side of the devices. Kind of like the moving of metal on these images:    Even though it is not in the same direction, it is the same cause. Die movement during the strike. Note the "NIT" On UNITED in the next to last image above this thread. That is what I'm seeing. |

But the markings are not at the edge, they are almost in the middle. thanks.

Like on my images the metal is pushed back, but not all the way to the bottom of the device. Just moved on the upper part of the devices. When you look straight down on the coin it looks like it is in the center, but just pushed at the upper part.  Take a look in different directions and you will see this. Edited by coop

I am looking at the coin and I do not see on this coin what you displaying. And probably my pictures are the cause for this and I am sorry. If I could get better pictures I will send them, otherwise I will have to wait.

I think Coop's theory is correct. Instead of machine movement occurring towards the bottom of the device movement occurred towards the top. This assumes that movement occurred at the end of the cycle. Slight burnishing of material that over the past 50 years has worn almost even leaving the slight but noticeable witness mark. Movement occurring earlier in the cycle would create the low flat shelf and move more material. Just thinking out loud.

I would never question Coop's theory or knowledge, in my eyes, he is a PhD. It's myself, Who I blame, because I do not have a good enough equipment and can not produce better pictures. Sorry if I gave wrong impression. thanks.

Coop, does the dots in E P you hold the same on LMC as it does for LWC in doubled dies? If they are out of round chances are better they are a doubled die? |

On the 2002 and 2004 it is noticeable on the DDR.   But they are different. The look flatter in the center and wider. More of an ellipse (oval) shaped. The Wheat dots are more egg shapped, taller in the center. |

Again, the coin in the beginning of the thread is NOT a doubled die. Doubled dies are considered varieties, not errors.

This is how I look at this: If Coop sad no DDR, this is no DDR, and yes this is very knowledgeable community with people know what they doing and what they saying and being here not that long myself I've learned to appreciate that. thanks. Edited by khasil
