I just had a look at that set... it's AWESOME.. I love it!

You could probably fill some of those holes if you put up a want list on the CCF thread...

Make sure you give updates when you make additions.. I really want to see this set grow..as I said.. it looks GREAT!

AgCoinAu

Thank you and others for the positive comments.

Filling this set will give me some direction, at least for a couple months.

Your comment about posting a want list, brings up some questions for me.

I am still waiting for my Charlton price guide, so I am not sure what are good price ranges. I do check coinandcanada site. I just would like a guide in hand. (I have the 2014 guide coming, but media mail ..slow)

Do you think buying from CCF members would be in line with ebay prices?

When I buy on ebay, I have been staying with U.S. auctions.
Would I have any problems with shipping from Canada?

If I buy from the 3 local shops I deal with, I get a lot of the common coins at melt. So I am not sure how much I will like going above that. Of course if they are better coins in better condition .. I don't mind paying a fair price.

You will have absolutely no problems receiving coins from Canada. I lot of us ship to the US with no issues at all.

The guide is just that.. a guide and in my opinion for most coins it's inflated in prices...

You should be able to get a better price from a CCF member than e-bay... only because the same person with the same coin wouldn't have to incur listing and selling fees...

I realized that you're in the states.. so I don't know if a copy of the Canadian Coin News is readily available... but if you're looking for a ball park figure on many canadian coins I would happy to mail you the trends prices excerpt .. just e-mail me your address... If grade really isn't an issue I know I could probably fill most of those holes for you... (by the way I think it's AWESOME you used newfie coins in the set... I love newfie coins and I think it just adds a little something extra!) .. but there may be others here on CCF that could probably also get you really high grades of the coins you're looking for..

- make a list of what you need and post it.... (let me know when you do) I think there's a lot of holes that can be filled for a very reasonable price.

With respect to buying from Canadain ebay sites.. I have never sold on ebay so I really wouldn't know.. but I would imagine that the only major stepping stone would be the shipping and customs.. (which really is only a headache on big items or large value items.)

AgCoinAu thanks again for your very informative post.

I will have to start a list and see what is available here on CCF.

I think on the more expensive coins I would have no problem buying good eye appeal coins in the VF/XF range.

For the common coins AU/BU/PL will be what I am looking for.

Overall I would like to have just a nice looking set of coins.

Of course I am open to any opinion from the Canadian collectors ... I am sure they know more about what are good coins then I do.

I may have to post partial lists at first. So I can stay at a comfort level for coin purchases, maybe $100 or less. Will there be any problems with payment or exchange rates? paypal?

I'm really not sure... I guess it will all depend on who you buy from...

I've used paypal a lot when buying and never had an issue.. but usually when buying privately I stick with EMT's... I guess it will be all the seller's preferance... I haven't had many deals here on CCF... but I'm sure most people are very reasonable... and keen to help out with your collection really.

Album2 is not really a type set.The last few pages seem to have been afterthoughts, they don't belong in a typeset album and contain many NCLT dollars and spaces for nickel dollars and a loonie under the heading of silver dollars.

Great find GR58, they are tough to get ahold of.

I have the 1st one which only goes to 1968. I wish that you could get more pages and also the sleeves you have with yours. Makes them show well.

I saw one of the albums at the LCS complete with 6 pages. He wanted $1250 for it. After I seen yours that one may have had the pages from your 2nd book.
I think I got mine in a LCS in Vancouver BC back then(1968) and a few of the coins for it. Sometimes I forget where things came from. Age I guess.

I think the albums would sell good if they would remake them. Alot of us like the Canadian coinage

Good Luck completing the sets

Thanks Gary ... Good to know someone else has this album and likes them.
If you want to post pictures of yours, I would like to see them.

The more holes I fill, and coins I upgrade, the more I like how it looks.

At some point I need to post upgrade pics.

In my two albums there are 120 holes. I have 79 filled, with one or two more in the mail from ebay.

I slowed down a little, to wait on the Charlton guides. I have volume one, still waiting on the mail for volume two. I think I need them so I can have a idea what years might better coins.

It would be nice to know if others are working on these Dansco album(s)

I am now down to needing 34 coins. Some I will want to upgrade
in the future.

I posted a list of a few coins on the CCF want list section,
if anyone cares to take a look at it.
