C'mon guys, this is a coin forum... My guess is someone broke open a proof set for all but the cent and just dumped it. Ever try selling a single 1985 proof cent? It's not worth the cost to ship....

Jimmie, nice find. I also had no problem reading your post. But if you did punctuate, it would make it easier for other members to read, so please consider it in the future.

I would like to apologize to you in the place of sourdough. We pillars and valued members usually know the rules well enough not to make such remarks on our mainly-peaceful forum. If we could conduct ourselves in a manner suitable for discussing coins, and only coins, I think this forum could be even greater.

Rarely will you find anyone who, quote, "hates" or is a "hater" on this forum because if they do find their way in, we promptly dispose of the account. Not saying that sourdough was, in fact, hating, but what he said was offensive and I apologize for that.

Man, I'm 13 over here and I believe that all members on our great forum should conduct themselves according to the rules set by our forum dad, Bobby, our forum mom, Susan, and all our other moderators.

A message to all users: Continue to keep coin community a great place. Only we can, and it's the single most amazing site I've ever been on.

I had the same issue on another forum with some grammar police. I was hoping I would see some positive comments on down the thread after I read the 2 rude comments from members that I hardly ever see posting on this forum.

A forum mod on another site gave me a link to the free Ginger Software download because I was getting hassled. It automatically corrects spelling, rephrases sentences, fixes punctuation, and more. My main problem was with punctuation and using words wrong when typing fast, for instance ("I am trying to rap my head around it" should be, "I am trying to wrap my head around it"). Ginger catches and underlines the word, when you hover over it you will get the correct word spelling. After using it for a few weeks I was punctuating and phrasing sentences a lot better. If you are interested in it just google Free Ginger Software. It is pretty cool!

The Google Chrome web browser will underline any word spelled incorrectly in red on it's own, but does not do the other cool stuff that Ginger does.

I must say that the software was working in forums and emails, but for some reason it does not work any longer ( I think they want me to pay for the premium service, which I would not recommend ), but it worked for at least a month for free and it still works in MS Word. Luckily, I learned enough to get the grammar police off of my back when it was working.

As for how a proof cent got into circulation, your guess is as good as ours. Some kid could have broke up a proof set he got for Christmas, birthday or whatever to use the dollar in change to buy candy at a store. If I remember correctly I have actually had something like that happen when I worked at Subway, but it was a later proof set with the dollar coins in it. Another time a kid came in and paid in 40% silver halves.

Kris

I should have read all of the posts better, I did not see you were using a phone. Those things are not easy to punctuate with. I just looked and there is a Ginger app for phones too.

OK well I didn't post to get a grahmer lesson if you have to reread them to answer there's a back button on your computer I use mine a lot and when I'm on it I punctuate but I'm on my cell so it kind of hard to do that I've never had a complain about my punctuation until now so sorry to take up that 30 extra seconds of your life to reread I'll try to do better

Sorry if I offended you in any way. I was letting you know so other members wouldn't have the same problem. You are easily forgiven since you were on a phone. If it is easier for you, maybe you can make each sentence its own paragraph. That should be easier than punctuating. I rarely comment on someone's grammar, but if the post is nearly incomprehensible the first time I read it, I give them a little heads-up, as I did with you. I'm not trying to be the grammar police.
