Anyway, now I have lots of Ike's and it seems a shame to just deposit them at a bank. If I could get a little profit that would be good too. Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat.

I would be thrilled to get 5 cents on 1,000 Ikes.

With my Health Issues (back problems etc., etc.), I wish I could rent a small space at the local FLEE MARKET and go at it for half a day. Obviously would try to sell the TONED, ERROR, PEGLEGs at a good mark-up.

I would prime my little show with one or two Morgan-Peace Dollars, and some Arrowheads.

You never can say what someone will pay. Anyway It would get me out of this house.

Spend them.

Unfortunately unless they are UNC and even then it will take many many many generations before they gain any value above face and even then inflation will be higher than any increase in numismatic value.

The reason they are so hard to find is everyone else has a box of them under there bed.

I would spend 1 or 2 at a time and I bet the cashier will keep them. If you spend too many in once place the cashier may not have brought enough cash to work with them to switch out and the coins will just end up getting taken back to the bank rather than go home with someone who will enjoy them and have a story to share about what happened to them at work that day.

Thank you for the encouragement.

My only real excuse, is I live in a world of (about) 9+ on the pain scale.

I was at the Doctor yesterday === she upped my pain med to about the last of the "stuff."

Sitting in a well padded chair is OK. Bed is fine. Standing and walking is pain pain pain & the real possibility of a bone braking fall.

I just do not want to go under the knife, because of fear, I guess.

There are other health issues, best left unspoken here.

most coin shops should give you a bit above face for such a large lot..
Go buy one at a coin store and see how much they charge, even for clunkers you pay more..

People use them in poker racks....

Sell them in lots of 100 on ebay. With 1000, they'll go pretty fast. I could get about 20% profit when I had a couple hundred to sell. If I could get a consistent source of Ikes, I'd be putting them on ebay all day, haha.

I think you should go to a really high-end restaurant and then leave a large pile of them on the table as payment.

AlabamaDan,

We don't sell them often. But people are buying these in bulk on ebay. 10+ coin counts seem to move on that site.

I think you will have more luck selling in larger amounts.
