No offense, but this coin is way over EF-45 or AU-50. I'd say minimum this would get is AU-58 if not in the low to mid Uncirculated range.

Hey, you are asking for opinions. I'm new, but I just gave you mine. It's not personal. Maybe it's the lighting, but I'm not seeing the level of detail that the professionally graded AU-58 or MS-60 coins have.

I didn't take it personally, it's a coin not me lol. Check photograde to see what I mean. I don't see any wear on the bell and there are tiny rubs on the obverse, which may or may not bring it down to AU-58. Another point is the luster. Coins in Extremely Fine typically have little luster, and I've never seen a coin in AU-50 in blast white with complete luster.

Great, I'm happy to be corrected and learn It just seemed like you were upset at my lower grading! I checked photograde and based on the photo you posted I didn't see any detail in Ben's hair and the bell holder has no wood grain. That's why I said the detail matches XF-45 to my eyes but the luster is very high. AU-50 was a compromise, even though I think it looks very nice. However, I'm a bit confused because if I look at this MS63 PGCS graded half on ebay, it looks a lot like yours with smooth hair detail:  But then photograde's MS63 has a LOT more detail in the hair and face than that coin they graded MS63  |

Sometimes you can't always tell what people's emotions/intentions are through text alone.  I think the lack of detail on the hair you were referring to is either a weak strike or a worn die. I could be wrong, but I don't think this coin is FBL (which implies a full, strong strike) so that might explain the look of the obverse. Again, sorry about the misunderstanding, I'm happy to help with grading advice. I'm no professional obviously, and I know my pics aren't too professional either haha, but the coin looks twice as good in hand and I think this coin is AU-58 if the obverse rubs bring it down to circulated, and if not I think it's an MS-62, 63 if PCGS is in a good mood.  |

It's obvious I have much to learn. Sorry this turned into you teaching me instead of you getting your coin graded properly.  I didn't even really know about weak vs heavy strike, so apparently wear is not always wear and as I've been learning with cleaned coins, shiny isn't always mint state! |

The FBL is for Full Bell Lines. Full separation of the lines across the bell. Many Franklins appear to be "weakly struck" when in fact they are "normal for that date and mint".

That is a pretty nice coin. I think the strike is bit lacking especially on the bust. I've seen coins with a bad strike that have been graded below what a it should be with the same luster, wear, etc.

For a 56 it is not a bad strike... note the bell lines on the bottom (they seem to be fairly strong). There is a lot of weakness on the hair in the 56. With the chatter on the bell and bust I would put this in the 62 range. However the fields seem to be fairly clean and I think the mark near In of In God We Trust may be magnified by the lighting of the photo. So it may be a good shot at a 63.

I was thinking MS 60 as I was reading through nice coin I would call it a UNC MS 60-62
