g048406,

The link you posted above doesn't work. Definitely been following this thread though. Very interesting, but scary at the same time!

UPDATE:
more negs still coming in on this crook, but, ebay still hasn't NARU'd him.....they did remove his top rated seller status lol. This crook has fled the state with over quarter Million dollars from ill-gotten ebay scams. ebay and many of it's clientele are going to take a bath on this scam.

It's sickening this can even happen. I understand holding funds for a while could be annoying, but darn with a 17k$ purchase? cmon now.

ebay really needs to get some bad press on this one. Truth be told ... ebay is a scammer's paradise!

I expect that some federal crimes have been committed. Thanks to some of our most astute members, the dots will be much easier for investigators to connect. Way to go, guys!

ebay won't say anything publicly about this. They'll end up paying everybody back except for the idiots that did the .99 cent silver eagle "Buy It Now's". (Remember, "Get the item you paid for or get your money back!" Is the motto right now.)

ebay knows the who, what, when and where's of this scam. Following the money trail is all it takes.

It'll probably end up getting dumped off on the Postal Inspectors to prosecute. The vast majority of the law breaking involved the mail system to facilitate and complete the fraud. Local law enforcement would pass the buck since nobody was "hurt" and white collar crime isn't their cup of tea. The FBI and the IRS could get interested if they think they can score some asset seizures if this is anyway related to organized crime.

Really there has to be a better way to buy a roll of Silver Eagles then ebay at that cost, I mean how do these people have so much money yet can be so stupid.

What about amex or some of these other dealers, if I wanted to spend that kind of money or had that kind of money it wouldn't be on ebay.

I have been on ebay since 1998, I remember some of the old rules like leaving feedback both ways so you would never leave negative feedbacks as a buyer so you didn't get one back. It seems ebay has never been able to get it right over the years.

UPDATE:
ebay finally NARU'd tomcassata today:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=AllFeedback

Good and bad.....All of his scam listings are now removed, but, they have the optics of having done something. lol
Grand tally of his crimes seem to be close to quarter Million.
This closes the book on one of the best ebay scammers I've ever seen. ebay's policies allowed this to occur and I expect we will be seeing more now that the ccw and ebay Trust and Safety have been eliminated.

ebay is responsible, as they tout their guarantees. How could they let this go on, and how could their paypal CONTINUE to allow sales in the hundreds of thousands from a member with such limited sales?

Unbelievable, and I smell class action lawsuit

If they aren't one and the same person, they darn sure know each other!

Just like the tomcassata incident this will take a few months to play out. Seems like the last one really got going when "she/he" started listing bullion stuff with made-to-order BIN offerings.

Get some popcorn and pull up a chair!
