Thanks for pointing that out! The missing detail was caused by excessive die polishing. A very cool coin there, especially since it's in such good condition.

 All of the "scratches" you see on the reverse are die polishing lines, that die would have been abraded to remove clash marks. You can still see a small remnant of the clash under the E and P of EPU(the vertical raised mark).

wow...that turns ot to be a more interesting coin than I expected. actually nickels are my favorite coins...
this one has sme additional "cool" factor.

Most chips remind me of somebody gum they spit out and stuck onto something. This one fits that theory.

I discovered a 1966 5c nickel like yours atan old school coin/stamp shop in an old Holder that had in quotations CROCODILE ON A THE ROOF"WHICH I GATHER IS AN OLD DESIGNATION FOR THAT ERROR.

Fun find! That's called a Die Chip, and it's a big one too! The die has also been over polished to remove Die Clashes as well.

I didn't give it the name. I prefer to honor the old schools so called "nick name" and I am just passing on a small piece of history Presumption is a failing fault to some people.
