I very much doubt it's a proof. The odds of that are astronomical. Given what I paid, I'd be happy with a solid, problem-free 63, but I bet the hit on the lower cheek will keep it at 62 unless the fields are great. 62PL is still worth a large premium to what I paid.

Looks like it could be a 63PL. Was this off ebay? It looks similar to one I had seen a couple days ago.

Yeah, off ebay, listing ended around 330am last night, not a good time to end an auction.

The phony toning created by some kind of chemical application was enough to make me pass it up. Made me wonder what other kind of alteration may have been effected to the surfaces as well. The over exposure in every image in the listing to the lighting is an old trick to cover minor surface flaws as well.

I know the toning is artificial, and that came really close to pushing me away from bidding on it, but if the coin is a legit 62pl or better, I'll dip and submit it and make some easy money. My gut tells me the coin is probably altered, polished or whizzed though. The seller really didn't know jack about coins, or was at least playing dumb, so with the return policy, I decided to roll the dice. Thanks for your opinion!

The revealing photo is the one in which it it being held next to the multicolored background. What I see are reflective fields and frosty devices. Hard to clean a coin and retain those charateristics. The rim looks awfully squared off in that shot also, another reason why I mentioned its conceivably being an actual proof strike, remote a possibility as that may be.

If this is a proof, you very well may *have* struck gold.
