Good question.

I usually have a purse or a backpack. Before sitting down I hold it up and make sure tha all the zippers are closed and then I sit with it between my feet. I keep my hands on or above the glass until the deal is made and by then the only coins left are the ones I'm buying.

I also only look at one coin at a time leaving any other coins that may be out closer to the dealer than to me.

I'd be interested to learn what others do.

I think the buddy system applies here. That is, take a friend, spouse, parent, child, etc. Share a bag and take turns holding it.

If you have a dealer friend at the show (that has a table) have him store your stuff behind his table till you are ready to leave. That's what I do.

That's what I do as well. I know a lot of dealers that are happy to let me leave something at their table and pick it up later. My problem is to remember to pick it up before they close for the day.

At first I thought jbuck was making a joke How about using one of those aluminum looking brief cases that locks and put it between your feet whether you are standing or sitting at a table?

Camera bags are what I use. Also, as already stated a brief case works well. At many coin shows a back pack is not allowed. At one show a security guard will instruct people to take it back to their car. Back packs constantly bump people in crowded shows and customers will complain so people are asked to not bring them. Also, a back pack is a place easily having things picked.
I've found a good camera case has lots of pockets for coins, magnifying glass, list of coins, etc. Easily carried or hung over a shoulder.

(Isn't that what shows are for? Finding coins that you can't find otherwise locally and not hoarding junk silver which can be easily located otherwise?).

Cant agree here mate. I love buying junk silver anywhere and everywhere. I mean, a coin show! That opens so many doors for finding nice junk silver, I would say who WOULDN'T want to buy junk silver at a coin show.

I always carry my briefcase and keep it on my lap or under the table in front of me. I've done this for 40 years.

Thanks for the camera bag suggestion just carl. I just bought one at Target that should do the trick.

When I get too much stuff I take it out to the car and come back. I really hate carrying ANYTHING into show, if it doesn't fit in my pocket, I don't bring it. There are too many thieves in the world and I like to avoid making the dealers worry. When I sit down at a table everything I need is right in front of me so I don't need to look in bags and pockets while browsing.

Apparently I'm doing something right because all the dealers I know will give me ANYTHING to look at, even "hidden" stashes of expensive stuff. One guy lets me have free run of his cases - I can open and take out as much stuff as I want to look at.

I wear my turkey call pack if I am buying bulk. Other than that I do like JBuck suggested. I usually always have someone that is with me. Usually a grandson.
