Thank you SPP, I'm no expert in circulation coins but for sure mine has more luster than VF - and EF I looked at.

BTW I just received my coin today! Came back from work and there is was. I am very pleased with the PCGS holder which let you see the rim.

I think your photos are better than the PCGS Shield True View... tons of lustre there...

I've read a few of the comments here and It's clear these people don't read the fine print. The grading in the U.S. PCGS and NGC per se is "Market" grading not "technical" grading as ICCS does.
Secondly, PCGS has a guarentee that's been tested in court and therefore limits what in placed in their holders. ICCS/CCCS states it's their opinion only and thus they grade virtually everything as they see all is gradable and they do not guarantee it. The liablities are totally different. As for why do we grade-to get an independent opinion...

@jerry

I figured my 50 cent 1982 SB was between MS63-MS64 based on similar pics on ebay and therefore would be worth at least 80 $CAN. Well... the best offer I could get was $20 - with FREE shipping.

So I decided to send it to TPG and I got it back with a nice MS65 grade. Within 1 day I received an offer and settled at 180 $US + shipping.

Here, the difference between MS60 (perceived) and MS65 (graded) made all the difference I think.

So as you said, that "independent opinion" is absolutely correct. Pictures and scans can be manipulated to make coins look better. Lighting, contrast can enhance eye appeal, etc. Buyers bid conservatively because of that.

I've got VERY limited experience with TPG (only a few coins graded) and so far I've seen both extremes.

I submitted a 25c 1943 which I honestly thought would be at least MS65. It came back MS62. Among ALL my PL nickels I submitted the BEST of all under 10x magnification and it came back PL65. ?WHAT? But I don't know nickels - I guess we should ask vforce for advice on this one.

I'm too busy at the real job to go to RCNA this year. This is my best #1 but I do have a VF to trade.
