As others have said those are not XF/AU coins.

I just returned from a show, wherein mid-grade dollars like those pictured were retailing for $24, apiece. The common XF-AU's were $26-$28. There were buckets-full at a half-dozen tables. The low-grade ones were $22.

One dealer had a bucket of silver dimes, teens on up, for $1.45 apiece. There were no culls apparent, and some of the early date Mercuries had mintmarks, too.

I would pay 17 to 18 for each coin based on your sample pictures

Make me wonder if the price to melt them is driving the junk silver price a lot lower than the silver content.
Rest in Peace

I wouldn't even bother especially if I were in your position. You're working on completing an MS64 Morgan set in PL condition. How do these fit in your collection?

I really dont need them. I just figured if the price was right why not. And yes, I'm doing a ms64 set. But I dont think the whole thing will be pl. What I decided was to try and get at least 1 pl or dmpl coin for each year. Dosent matter about mint. So far, I have 9. The 84cc being the best of them. And of course, the few proofs I have

So I went to meet the guy. He told me two different stories over the last four days where the coins came from. One time he said he bought them from dealers when he tried to collect, today it was from various flea markets and garage sales. All of them were just like the photos. Nothing special, all commons. He would not move off the prices he had on the two by twos. When I try to show him that even in the grades he had listed the coins were not even close on price sheets. He obviously graded and priced them himself. I politely said sorry I will have to pass. He flipped out, started cursing, calling names etc. I guess he overpaid and was trying to recover his money. On my way out the door he screamed from his window and said that I was hurting for money and try to lie to get the coins from him for nothing. Lol. I just ignored him. So, I won't be doing that again ha ha

People tend to lash out and react badly when you tell them they've wasted hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

They also often do that when caught in a lie.

Unfortunately this kind of experience with the non-collecting general public isn't uncommon.

I'll throw in my Two Cents as well. I buy all Morgans and Peace dollars at $18 to $20 each at the shop. That's for common date coins G to MS. I probably buy 60 to 70 a week at that price. I sell at $25 each, except for the Home run coins. Also the premiums have come waaaaaaay down on Morgans on ebay. Coins that I was selling for $40 to $55 6 months ago are lucky to bring $30 to $35 now. Talking to other dealers reveals much the same for them as well. Good Luck!
