The 1934 Melbourne Mint proof penny is listed in Renniks Coin and Banknote Values at AUD $60,000.
By inference, only a handful of them must have been struck.
I would think that almost all of them would have a provenance, and would only be found in State Museums.

Also by inference, I don't think this is one of those proofs.

In EF (Sheldon AU), this coin is listed with a value of AUD $40, as a business strike, in the same book.

Nice pick up for the price, anyway.

We'd need photos of the whole coin to help you.

It's been in circulation (and later cleaned) so it's not likely to be a proof. There's a die polishing line going horizontally from the E of ONE on genuine proof strikes.

WWWW is a well known and respected collector in Australia and simply "Knows his Stuff" He also runs his own website and auction house.
I am pretty certain that if he took the time and effort to look at your coin then I would think that his opinion would be very valid

The line isn't on your coin. The '34 proofs are not likely to be found circulated. While the Canberra proofs, '37 proof crown and '38 proofs can at times be found circulated, the '34 proofs were exported and most ended up in the US and it would be decades before they started returning to Australia, it's just not logical for them to be found circulated.
