Quote: I would avoid Gary like the plague... I would avoid South Bend as well... Both cities are the armpits of Indiana at least in my opinion... And don't forget Hammond IN (at least the freeway exit I got off at) I had the misfortune to be low on gas on a bike trip and have to pull off and stop there. Same thing happened in Indianapolis and they were doing free way construction and you couldn't just turn around and get back on You know you're in the ghetto when you see cars with a garbage bag covering 2 or more broken windows and you see cars with 2 donut spare tires on them (especially since your car only came with 1 )

Hey! I was born in Hammond! But we moved away in the early 70's. Fun fact... A Christmas Story is based on Jean Shepherd's time growing up in the Hammond neighbourhood of Hessville.

In Southern Indiana in Evansville and Near Louisville there has not been much silver in a while. When I first started I got a lot of old rolls of halfs that banks in the small towns had for awhile that weren't complete boxes so there carriers wouldn't take. Made out good when first started, but it dried up fast. I live close enough to Kentucky that I dump my halfs out of state to try to avoid getting them back.

Interesting ! I was just wondering, have you tried doing it the other way round , i.e. getting some rolls in Kentucky and dumping in Indiana .......or is that part of Kentucky also drying in silver as well ?

I heard that all of Indiana banks were under contract with Brinks to cull silver, they've kinda cornered the market there.
J/K! Just do it good luck.

CSOTUS, I haven't done a ton of searching but Fort Financial is where I go. None of the banks or credit unions around here are very cooperative.

I live in Indianapolis & have always found the tellers @ PNC very friendly. They stock me up on free paper rolls when I pick up a box.

I have to agree about the stingy banks in Fort Wayne. I've got one good pickup bank and 2 or 3 dump banks. I use the same pickup bank because they are super nice, but I've been on a 3 month skunk streak.

Doesn't depend on population. It depends on distance from federal reserve.
