Quote: Me too... I feel so stupid and depressed. Why? Cool down...you know that it always like this with recent NCLT. Almost nothing holds the value. Remember that "Summer Kangaroo" rectangular coin? Or 2013 Royal Baby set? - that's funny, how they could be purchased now, we've lost a lot. But targeted waiting for the discounts is good? IMO - not for all coins....for most of them - who cares, new coins coming

This confirms what I been thinking and seeing,,, if its a commissioned coin, and the sell out is artificial at the mint, the coin can be had for less later. I been passing on a lot of RCM product lately, I had my eyes even on the gold Bison Family at rest, and I said, "i'll look for this later for less." I like many of these coins, I really do. Heck, I love these reverse proof maples with privy marks for coin such, like the ANA show, but I have passed because I darn well know I will find it for less 6 months from now...

^I agree that many coins can be found later for lower but its also what you want and when you want it, for example (others might think differently) since its september, when an iphone is released, it goes over retail value up to like $1200 for base model but then 2-3 years later it can be bought at like half its retail. Although coins are different but new technology and styles come up. Many iphone buyers who pay above retail know in a week or 2 they can get it for $400 cheaper but they still buy

and in addition, I think that in most cases - better not to return to the non-recent items, cause the newer will come. If you decided to "skip" or wait - more likely (but not always) it is not that you really want. And example with the budget: Let's say each month you decided to skip some 1 RCM coin, priced $100. You like it, but think to buy later with discount. Now, the coins really became discounted, 50% each, in December, close to Christmas. You can buy them all in one order, but instead of paying monthly $100, you have to pay $500 one time, in the worst period for additional expenses. Looks like, many will again delay this purchase, or just will buy part of the items. I would say - (again, in general case) - or buy now, or just forget about it.

I think you are right, Sil!
I bought the Buffalo set because I liked it (still do).
Hope the folks who just cleaned out Colonial Acres will too!

What I been doing is making a list of all the RCM coins ( I do this with all coins actually that I like or interest me)and I track their prices on a regular basis. I rank them between 1-10, 1 being the most important, and so I just follow the sales and record them. In this manner, they are always top of mind and I get a sense of fair going market prices and I can keep up with my collection

For the most part I totally agree with waiting until the coins go on sale. One concern I have however is has the seller mishandled the coin in some way. I see all kinds of pictures people take of coins out of there protective capsules. To me these coins are pretty much damaged and I will not knowingly purchase them. Liverpool

Besides, with RCM's quality control getting so much worse in the past 2 years, I found myself (even buying directly from the Mint) having to exchange about one coin each month. It's easy to have coins exchanged with the Mint, but I doubt that can be done as easily with dealers. That's why even with some dealers offering 5% off new coins, I still rather buy from the Mint directly.

I really have to wonder how long the RCM can continue this. QC isn't great, PM prices are dropping, they have saturated the market with coins,,,, I dont see much in the way of positives going for them....
