NumisRob you're not in Scotland are you? So why do you think that there is no need one/take one tray over there across the pond? To many tray divers?

Quote: NumisRob you're not in Scotland are you? No - right the other end of the country! I think these trays would make sense in the UK. Perhaps some places have one.

Not sure what is ment by trays but at a local flea market there is a seller with boxes full of all kinds of USA coins. Mostly all pennies. Almost any date from 1909 to present but naturally no expensive ones. A long time ago he used to have more Silver coins but due to the rise in Silver prices, no longer does that.

justcarl - I think this thread is about the little trays you sometimes see by the till in US stores, with 'Give a Penny, Take a Penny' or something similar on them.

Lets revive this thing. Today I found a 42 P wheat and a canadien cent in the dairy queen tray.

SHH don't tell anyone. I swap out any copper cents that I see in the TAPLAP trays. I replace them with worthless Zincolns. I come across common wheats every once in a while. I throw them in my copper bags.

Nothing wrong with that. Consider it a rescue.

About 3 years back I pulled a wheatie out of the take/give tray and replaced it with a nickel or dime maybe. Nothing special but fun anyway. Of course I have no specifics or photos, so you'll just have to trust me on this one. On a somewhat related topic... isn't this just a great example of rounding at the cash register and yet another reason to do away with the cent? Let's make it a "need a dime, take a dime; have a dime, give a dime" thread.

After months of checking the give a penny/take a penny trays for 2017 P cents, the folks working the stores I frequent are now checking them for me. The Denver minted cents are plentiful in southeast Michigan, I've yet to find a Phili minted 2017 cent.
