I'm not sure why (I never noticed that until you pointed it out), but if I'm not mistaken I was looking through ebay listings for draped bust dollars and this one came up at the very last page. And then I noticed it was from that seller again. He listed it under US coin errors the first time.

I told the guy it was a fake, and that 1804s sell for millions. He replied: "no. didn't it was worth millions of dollars but this one I hate to tell you is not a fake I found it wwith a metal detector next to a house that used to be a boarding house in the 1800's I found it about 8 inches down in the earth"

So you found it with a metal detector. That doesn't mean it's not a fake.

He's telling the same story again. We can't prove that he found it with a metal detector (although I bet he's not since so many of his other coins are fakes too) but yes, it does't mean it's not real.

Is there a way to tell ebay to ban this seller?

ebay doesn't really care anymore. They had a group that reviewed fake coin auctions and pulled them and may have had some influence on getting chronic bad sellers banned. ebay disbanded the group and since then the number of fakes has been booming. ebay doesn't care, they just want their fees.

I reported this one, twice, days ago. I'm inclined to think that my reporting efforts are now futile. Taking this seller down should be a no-brainer for ebay. Maybe, some big, Federal fines would get their attention? Our wasteful government could surely use the money.

His feedback has several negatives about counterfeit coins.
Unbelievable that anyone would buy anything from that seller.

There is a chance that he doesn't understand that these coins are fakes. He might have inherited them (or found them with his metal detector) and knows nothing about coins.

I don't feel sorry for these buyers. They obviously don't want to learn first. I say let him learn his lesson the hard way unfortunately.

And yes, ebay is all about the fees they make.

On my first post about him selling fakes, I remember that he has photos of the real (or at least real-looking) coins on a scale (sorry I didn't check all with the actual weights, but I checked a couple and they seemed right so I left the rest), while the fake ones are in flips like what you see now. No way he doesn't know it isn't fake. And he keeps listing them again and again.

Amazing that ebay allows this garbage to occur.

Not really they get their fees and that is what is important to them.

I like that it is in a cardboard flip with "KEY DATE" written on it. Much better than locking it up in a safe like the other known examples.

He has three more counterfeit dollars up for bids. All reported ... For what it's worth!

The buyer of that 1804 has yet to give feedback.
