No problem, like you I hope someone takes notice and another shows up, new and scarce varieties are cool.

Yeah I agree. It made me take a long hard look at my 1870 Wide 0 (NGC XF-45). Mine seems to have a double punched 0 but not the double punched 1, 7 or 8/5.

By the way did it ever get it into CCN?

Artido, did not mean to step on your toes. please accept my apologies. Never meant any harm. thought BV means Bullion Value.

@ DBM just pulling your leg , as you know that was and still is my intention. I really do want someone to find another

@ 47 no hard feelings at this end, afterall it was just a question, so no apologies needed but thank you just the same.

@ zxc.... As far as I know it did not , I guess my discovery was not important enough, not the first time either... I also discovered the near and far 1871 PEI years ago and brought it to someones attention ? but its all good..

Artido,
You are not alone. Perhaps one has to be a member of the "inner Circle" to be recognized?
Some time ago I submitted also very clear images of several 1 cent 1871 PEI clearly showing visible differences in the date and certain distances.
Further I demonstrated clearly some very obvious differences in NB 20 cents 1864, visible to the bare eye, provided you have both coins to see it.
so, I guess there is not a chance for "our" coins to be even remotely considered.
However, Nothing was ever acknowledged.

47PT I hear you , apart from the 1871 PEI , I also noted the difference in the 1929 cent long ago and a couple others, but as you say must me within that circle I guess , on the other hand as long as someone gets it in its all good....

I know many collectors laugh at the 1870 8 over 5 dime but when both Canadian grading firms agree then what does that say. It is what it is and would be nice to see it recognized finally.. Maybe some day

Well one of the best ways to be recognised is to be published. Look at some of the US 'rare' varities say the three legged buffalo or the 1922 no D cent. No one would care much about them except someone wrote an article about them to get them in the spotlight.

Write a well thought out article about what it is and start submitting it. Get it known put an add out offering to buy one. Call local tv. LOCAL MAN FINDS ULTRA RARE COIN! Market it Make people want it.You have the only known example so make it known.

until people know about it and want it you are no better than the guy who claims he saw the Lake Champlain sea monster or Bigfoot.

Tryna, next to having it certified, posting it here , listing it on ebay at least 25 times for millions to see, having spoke to the guy who writes the articles for the Canadian Coin News, having shown it to the leading publisher on Canadian coins Charlton , I think I have done my fair share to make it known.. Its the powers that be who are negligent in this. But I'm sure if I was well known that would make a difference.. That said I will sit back and if ever another is found and mentioned then I can raise the roof so to speak

I wrote to them a couple years ago about the differences in the date on the 1955 Canada nickel.
Never ever did hear back from them.

Artido, I did a similar route. they do not care. Perhaps we should pay them? not pay them off., simply buy an ad in a certain publication?
