Well.... I am a coin collector only because of the silver being the make up of the coin.

After about 2 years with silver coins Key Dates coins made of other metals are starting to look attractive to me. Even to the point of new releases in rolls?!

But when it come to collectables that have been made in say the last 5 years and value Australia Used high values or high denominations stamps are selling big time and the stand out is used self adhesive Australia international Post stamps that are selling for amazing prices because there is not enough to go around.

I could say a lot more but this is a coin forum. lol

The words 'dead cat' & 'bounce' spring to mind with people talking up the overall condition of stamp collecting as far as sales go,lots of offloading going according to my local dealer,he feels it,as a hobby at least, slowly fade over the next 20 years to a point of no return with only the elite stamps having a market.
Anyway who knows what the future holds, all we can do is speculate what might/may happen.

I really enjoy speaking to the 100s of new stamp collector I come into contact with each year.

Some very specialised stamping threads I have put together have high amount of visitors.

But true who knows!

It is hard to find someone that has not collected coins from there change.

ebay has killed the bricks and mortar stamp & coin shops. A couple come to mind that sold trash for decades and now.....

ebay may have killed the bricks and mortar shops but with ebay the freebay,s new policies there may well be room to now open up a bricks and mortar stamp and coin shop.

Have you seen how many are going to leave ebay with there new policies and not just here in OZ but the states as well. 1st November (tomorrow) it all starts 6 months to hold on your money and returns can be sent back up to 6 months after you purchase it. Don't think it will work to well for home sellers. EEBAY the big new Amazon or so they wanna be.

Over all though I think its all just time, time will tell the true story of everything.

Yep on the 18th Nov ebay will be bringing in a situation that people selling electrical good for example will now have to give a 6 month warranty.

And No eBay/paypal is not going to keep my funds locked up for 6 month before I can use them. They already can keep funds for 3 months and forever as long as they like!

They will not be able to give me back my sold items without damage after 6 months.

Kg5 that will be up to you to sort out with ebay , but they will be giving 180 day full refunds including the postage as of November 2014.

Although at this stage they are not going to hold funds at the moment they have access to your account which they remove the funds from either your PayPal or credit card or active account you have registered with them, then its held buy them until they to there liking sort it out.

That means your funds can be taken at any time for any item you have sold for the last 180 days . And yes PayPal can and probably will freeze your PayPal account with everything in it.

And there's nothing you can do about it you agree to all there terms and conditions the moment you sign up to use there services, In other words if you don't like the way we do business go somewhere else.

Now I don't agree with what there doing but its pretty black and white.
And yes there losing a lot of sellers because of it but sadly they don't care.
They don't want mum and dad sellers they want to be the new big Amazon lots of Chinese lots of Corporate enterprises selling on there site a long with advertising banners all over the place.

Yes I am with you sweetap.

My issue at the moment is how do I store over 2,000 + images per month for 6 months.

This laptop finds it hard to store 2 month worth of images.

A big part of all this is ebay & paypal are going to split into two separate companies.

I can not resolve a listing issue with ebay. Still going at over 2 months.

Payment by anyother means than paypal coming up!

ebay.com CEO just got the flick! Under proforming?

ebay wants my $1,000 + per month.

Why don't you get a few usb mem sticks they come in pretty big gigs these days.
Say have 3 or 4 , One for each month and as they expire wipe and do the next months on them , saves having huge amounts of data on your comp slowing it up.
And its backed up safely as well. Just a thought.

And yes I know all about the ebay CEO. He did what he was put there to do now moving on , Got fees sky high got rid of the second hand sellers (mums and dads) got PayPal split from ebay got the 10 percent on the postage , Dirt was fulfilled move on next please. Took his dosh and vamoosed.

I still have not seen a 2014 coloured $2 'rememberance' in change. They must have all been bagged up destined for ebay.
Unfortunately, my style of collecting is largely from change rather than buying specimens. Despite 2 million in so called circulation, if I can only obtain one off ebay or other retail, to my mind, that gives it a similar status to NCLT.
On the positive side, to find one in change would be a real thrill.
