How about a colourised Blackadder coin? ^ Yep, that's about the best digital image I can do. How many cried watching the end of Blackadder Goes Forth? I gotta take a pic of the poem "In Flanders Fields" sometime.

In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. â€" Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

scurry, I used an online tool to crop it into a circle, no freehand. After all, I don't have any image editing software and I won't know how to use it if I do.
DBM, that's not real, right? No matter what it will always cost more than 1 cent to make a penny, especially if you have to ship it from overseas.
Thanks Chute! There's the poem at one of my school's buildings, it is carved in stone along with names of Canadians who died in WW1, if I remember correctly.

It was always surprising (and disappointing) to me that a commemorative silver dollar was not authorized by the US Congress and approved by the President to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the US Mint. The Mint, on its own, however, did strike bronze and silver medals for its bicentennial. the proof silver medal was included in the 1993 "Philadelphia Set" which also featured gold half-ounce, quarter-ounce and tenth-ounce Eagles in proof. I posted more details about it here: https://goccf.com/t/144820#1759172

That is such an awesome medal! Thanks for sharing it; I want one now.
I would love to see the mint use the old designs like this on newer coinage. Imagine a throwback to seated liberty or bust coins. I think it would be great.

I like this thread. It's about time I've submitted a sketch for it. Here's the Lincoln Cent if it was made in Ancient Rome! Sorry for the dark pics.

wheatchaser, I think you should do more of these, today's coins re-imagined as ancients! Here's one for the Castlevania fans! They should put Dracula's face on the other side
