NNC is Bob Johnson and centsles is Bob Johnson. He is undoubtedly the largest rip-off artist on ebay in the numismatics category. What he is doing is morally wrong but apparently totally legal because he has been at it for well over ten years on ebay.

This is worse than a crack out. The coin was cleaned and tooled. Notice how the scratches are smaller now. He're what I think happened. He started "fixing" the scratches and then realized that the tool marks made it even more obvious because it burnished off the luster. The only way to even out the appearance was cleaning. Basically he ruined an acceptable coin.

Acceptable? As g048406 said someone years ago took a sharp object and trace scratched it all the way around the bust.

He didn't do what? If you mean the scratch tracing it is clearly visible on the coin in the NGC slab on the large pictures on the Heritage site.

Being a former "professional" grader, he knows exactly what he is doing when he cracks out, over grades and reslabs a coin in his own slab, but I have never seen his physically alter a coin. "That" is not his style.

Eventually, one of these types of ebay Sellers will rip off the wrong person and will be paid a "visit" and it's not gonna have a pretty ending.

Not a matter of "if", but "when".

They paid almost twice that, so hopefully it won't go much higher.

If it doesn't reach his goal he'll just overbid it with a shill and try again.

Looks like some sucker was duped out of $5500 for this severely damaged coin. Hopefully, the buyer will spot the problem and send it back.

The seller offers a 14 days return so no problem at all.
