I'd guess AU Details - Cleaned. If it graded problem-free then it could have been netted as low as 45. It has AU+ meat with most of its luster and all its patina chemically removed.

I'll say it graded AU-50. Most of the luster seems to have been worn away with only a little bit remaining around the stars, lettering, portrait, and eagle. Unless darkly toned, I think the graders would be looking for a little more luster before giving it a higher grade.

I agree with AU details and most definitely cleaned. But, you see a lot of older 19th century stuff in "good" holders as market acceptable that look like that.

I think I am seeing traces of luster around the peripheries and a nice amount of detail remaining. I would grade it nice and AU50. The reverse may have been cleaned at some point.

Looks like it was silently net graded at least 10 points and maybe more. It does not appear harshly or abrasively cleaned and was probably a good buy at XF40 money.
Considering this is a ~$200 coin in XF40 and ~$600 in AU55? I bet you did pretty well.

while I was late to the grading party here I think it might go EF45, maybe AU50 but not much higher. Hopefully if regraded it doesn't get a dreaded details also.

I am not going to have it regraded. I may have it attributed to GR-12.

Nice coin.... I still think XF45 but PCGS is sometimes hard on Bust and Seated coins. At least they didn't net grade it for cleaning.
