It's the so called 'tribute penny' minted as 'arnoldoe' stated by Tiberius. This type has been extensively counterfeited (contemporary and through the ages). Personally I would stay away from that one, the reverse image and graininess look somehow suspicious. What is the weight? And can you take a picture of the rim, especially at 7:30 on the bottom image. That should allow the more experienced with Roman denari to give you a definite answer.

I should point out the coin is not that grainy at all. In fact, it is very clear. I don't have a way to weigh the coin either. Sorry folks.

It looks clad - on each side there seems to be a spot where a non-silver core shines through. But wait for others to comment.

There was a light shinging down on it Medieval so that may explain the clad. I just wish I had a better camera.

Soft mushy details. Super round flan with defined seam. I hate to jump on the wagon but I am nearly certain this is a reproduction of a fairly common yet sought after denarius of Tiberius.

Just to add my twopenneth, but yes definitely fake. Very soft features, improbably perfect round flan and several other clues I am sorry JJ, it's a horrible feeling to discover that a coin you wanted to be proud of turns out not to be genuine. But it is something many of us have been through. I myself had the same experience with a tribute penny. In fact it put me off trying to get one altogether. I hope that maybe you will be able to return it?
