Nice coin perfect specimen. Would love to have found that. I was trying to find information on something similar to that and didn't find any varieties like that especially no v.d.b I would have it slabbed. Looks like a high grade and it's not what I would consider a common error. How did he find that? Roll searching ?

@ tweak800, he is an old timer like me and he bought a collection of what he thought were minor errors about 30 years ago. He recently took the time to go through them and found this error.

Photo's coming soon. ship date is 1/19 from ANACS

Did they give any idea of what its a value might be?

@ Coop, No they did not indicate any value. My friend has tried to find something similar and has come up empty.

I was hoping someone here might have an idea of it's value. we both have no clue.

Now that it is authenticated and graded, next step would be an approximate value or finding something similar that has sold.

Any Ideas?

This is one of those coins that all you need are two bidders that really want it.

A one year type coin with a major error is a HUGE auction item.

Your friend should do well if he decides to part with it.

Yeah at auction this could go for pretty big money, I would say at least a few thousand would be accurate though

That's easy - Jon and Fred. Toss Charmy in the mix too...

That is just an AMAZING piece. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Please give the CCF members a heads up as to when you are going to action it off.

@ oih82w8,
I will definitely update the members here. I do not know if he will decide to auction it off, but he is looking into Heritage Auctions information.
Is there a contact there he can call or send the info to so that they may be able to determine a rough ball park estimate on what to expect?

The coin in hand is really unique, when he first showed it to me I was in awe. He also said that when he submitted it in person at the show the ANACS rep said oh wow...

I am trying to get him to join CCF, I think it will benefit him as it has me.

Thanks for all the interest!

I doubt that this coin alone would qualify to meet the $5000 minimum that Heritage and Stacks require to even consider accepting your coin(s), unless you know of someone who has some "pull" to get it in with some others.

As mentioned above, I would give Charmy (The Penny Lady) Harker a hollar and see what she thinks.
